A Song of Fiery War Axe & Ice Breaker #13

A WEEKLY SHORT STORY OF YOUR FAVORITE HEARTHSTONE HEROES THRALL AND GARROSH.

“Hello? Are you there?”

Jaina was standing in front of a locked door, slightly concerned at the lack of response. She pressed her right ear at the door, trying to listen to what was occurring inside. She could hear the faint sound of drum beats from what could only be music playing. After a few seconds, she knocked again.

“Anduin? Do you want to talk?”

A few more moments passed, until Jaina finally heard signs of life: a child-like, whiny voice that could never be mistaken for another person.

“Leave me alone, Aunt Jaina!”

Jaina frowned and shook her head.

“I know you’re depressed about the current meta, but you can’t stay cooped up in your room like this. It’s not healthy.”

Her tone was motherly and sincere, but no answer was heard.

“At least come out to eat lunch. I made your favorite sandwich” she pleaded.

As she finished her sentence, Jaina could hear the sound of a chair moving inside.

“I’ll be there in 20 minutes! I’m busy right now”

The Mage sighed in relief.

“Okay, don’t forget that you promised!”

Anduin was sitting inside a dark room, dimly illuminated by the computer screen in front of him. He wore headsets, and heavy metal music could be heard emanating from them. The computer desk was extremely messy, with several empty bags of snacks lying around.

The Priest was fully concentrated on his gameplay. He was playing World of Warcraft. After all, the new Battle for Azeroth expansion just came out. In this game, his character was also far more relevant. He was the King of Stormwind and Leader of the Alliance, a rightful title that was befitting of his legacy.

Anduin briefly glanced to the wall on his right, where a poster of Raza the Unchained was hung. He was reminded of his better days in Hearthstone, where he regularly brought his opponents to their knees. Now, he’s strictly back to playing meme decks, trying to get rank 5 every month, and watching Zetalot on Twitch.  At least he’s grown used to it throughout most of the game’s life.

Being the worst class didn’t bother him as much, but what Anduin hated most was the fact Garrosh was Tier 1. That smug bastard wouldn’t let him hear the end of it. Taunting text messages every day and that wide grin every time they ran into each other in the hallway. It made him sick to his stomach. It made him not want to leave the room.

‘I don’t need them!’ he reminded himself as he shot down another monster in a dungeon run with his favorite Shadow Priest character.

As he finished his run and grabbed some more electronic loot, he noticed a familiar light. While he didn’t hear the sound of his phone, he could see the screen glowing at the corner of his eye, indicating a text message was sent to him.

‘It better not be that damn orc’ he thought.

He took off his headsets for a moment and reached out to the phone, pushing away an empty popcorn bag. As he looked at the screen, a smile formed on his face.

He could see the image of a beautiful elf, with faint blonde hair and a skin carrying shades of grey and blue. Her tongue was cheekily showing, and she was winking at him.

‘Want to go to the arcade this afternoon, pretty boy?’ was the message that followed.

Anduin chuckled quietly, and began to type a response. With every word that was typed out, another piece of his melancholy melted away as he could hear the sound of his heart pounding at his chest from excitement.

‘You bet, but don’t complain once you lose this time, Sylvanas’
