In this article, we will review the new cards, evaluate the strength of each class set and rank the sets against each other. We will also be ranking the classes, which is probably going to go horribly wrong, but we do this for entertainment. We’re very good at evaluating cards once we see them being played live, but without data, the process becomes educated guessing. Keep that in mind.
In addition, we will be producing a theory-crafting article in which we will present you with ideas on what kind of decks could be successful from each class in Alterac Valley. It will be released on Monday, December 6th, a day before the expansion’s launch.
We’ve assessed cards based on their potential strength and scored them accordingly from 1 to 4 based on the guidelines below.
4- Meta-defining, or an extremely powerful card we have great confidence will see play. Translation: Busted!
3- Very strong card that we’re confident will see play. Translation: Nice!
2- Decent, or niche card with potential to see play. Translation: Okay!
1- A card we don’t believe will see competitive play, for whatever reason. Translation: Meh!
For neutral cards that we believe will see play, we’ve also listed the classes or decks that are most likely to use them.

Owl decks going to have a huge surprise facing Priest, who has like 3 mass dispell cards now. It’ll be a great counter to every dethrattle deck.

Exactly what biffle said. Warlock got a lot of meh cards but the amount of removal, healing and draw pretty much guarantees Phylactery Owl OTK is going to be an obscenely oppressive deck that refuses to die while drawing towards dealing 112 damage to face. Meanwhile Rogue gets a lot of meme cards that I will certainly have fun losing with but Scabbs alone is probably good enough to bring a tier 2 deck into tier 1.
why don’t you think about what you’re saying for a few minutes and reconsider your comment. you can have the shittiest expansion set and be given one broken card that makes the existing cards amazing.
Well, not that it’s a good deck by any stretch, but the Jaraxxus Tess loop deck most definitely does not want and won’t play Scabbs as it breaks the loop.
Thanks for the excellent analysis. But I do not understand how it’s possible that a class which is the last in this expansion is the second overall … Rogue was not so good before this expansion, so being the worst now … same for warlock …
